The Heuningbos Film Project has been training potential filmmakers from Swellendam Community for the last 4 years. We aim to train young School leavers from Swellendam to join the film and advertising industry. The social issues that we record with our filming also highlights certain challenges facing the youth today.
The SwellendamTV news has evolved from this project and in August 2008 we obtained funding from the Netherlands to purchase a professional camear and an editing computer. With a few cameras that we have collected over the years we now have enough equipments to start a newsroom and film school.
The SwellendamTV News has been received with such enthusiasm by the Town and is watched by all communities. A monthly DVD is produced and this is circulated throughout the area free of charge. Free copies are also available at our 3 Video outlets, Olyfberg Supermarket and the Library. And our monthly episodes get published on Cape Town Television.
